Welcome.
I’m Kevin Ackermann.
Throughout my undergraduate career I was interested in digital media and social justice, working with organizations such as Mizzou Alternative Breaks and Reynolds Journalism Institute. I brought my love of digital media to New York City for my last semester of undergrad where I interned at the socially-conscious web-design studio, Madeo. After graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, I worked on marketing and design for a St. Louis-based nonprofit called LaunchCode.
Currently, I’m an MA student in Georgetown’s Communication, Culture, and Technology program in Washington, DC. You might have heard me rambling about how technology affects literally every aspect of modern society on the gnovis podcast, CCTea.
When I'm not recording for the podcast, I'm researching how communication technologies affect the formation of transnational queer communities. Additionally, I am interested in the design and governance of systems of technologically mediated surveillance. After graduate school, I hope to continue research into these topics while getting my PhD.
